January has been, for Samatoa Lotus Textiles, a great month filled with challenges and achievements… A lot of things happened, and we are really glad to inform you!
TAIWANESE TV SHOW
World No 1 GTV is a famous TV Show in Taiwan. They allow their viewers to enjoy exploring the most interesting and unusual activities in Asia. For their next episode, World No 1 offers their audience the opportunity to share Samatoa’s journey with the discovery of the art of making textiles from the incredible Lotus flower. Their crew went to our Lotus farm in Siem Reap and the host tried to spin the yarn, then they went to our showroom to learn more about our Lotus-based finished products. The shooting last half a day and was very intense. Special thanks to their host, Gary Tang and all the World No 1 Crew.
CONGRATULATIONS FROM THE KING OF CAMBODIA
Samatoa Lotus Textiles has recently received a congratulations letter for its achievements from His Majesty King NORODOM SIHAMONI of Cambodia. He congratulates us for our continuous actions towards the improvement of life conditions of farmers, spinners and weavers from our eco-textile production.
His Majesty strongly encourages us to keep on the good work and we have to say that it is a big honour to have recognition from Him.
We wish to express our deepest gratitude for His kind message of congratulations and good wishes. This is truly inspirational to all the team and under such favourable auspices; things will just get brighter and brighter!
NEVER STOP THE INNOVATION
Lotus yarn to product bracelets
At Samatoa Lotus Textiles, we know that the lotus yarn is always full of surprises. We think that everything has not been done yet and we never want to stop the progress.
On the lookout for new trends in the forefront of fashion and innovation, original usages for our precious lotus yarn are been experimented that seduce our most sophisticated clientele.
Together with a jewellery designer, we are now working on a new accessory: a crochet bracelet. Many prototypes were already produced to test the feasibility of different designs. We tried not only with lotus yarn, but also with lotus and banana, lotus and silk and lotus and kapok. We are quite happy of the results so far but more tests will be performed until our complete satisfaction.
Pom-poms in lotus yarn!
As we said, Samatoa Lotus Textiles commits to stay ahead of the curve. Our latest experiments are the Lotus Pom-poms that can be put on the scarves, as jewellery or on the clothes.
Creation of yoga mat from water hyacinth
Samatoa’s motto has always been to reduce to the maximum our vegetal waste and to have an ecological process. That is why, today, we are working to create products from the water hyacinth. This is an invasive plant that grows in rivers. The river that goes through Siem Reap is full of them. So it could be a great asset to create something from it and to limit their expansion all over the river.
Thereby we are trying to create a yoga mat from it. We are currently working on some prototypes.
For months, we have thought of an original case worthy of our exclusive Lotus scarves. We carefully choose this elegant black lacquered box which reflects our timeless and contemporary collections.
